The Accord Party has rejected an alleged Osun governorship primary, insisting the process was fake and reaffirming its support for Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The national leadership of the Accord Party has dismissed claims of a parallel governorship primary election allegedly conducted in Osun State, describing the exercise as a fabricated political drama aimed at misleading the public and destabilising the democratic process.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday by the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, Accord accused unnamed political actors of orchestrating the purported primary in bad faith.

The statement, signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Omorogbe, said the event was neither authorised nor recognised by the party’s national leadership.
According to the party, the alleged primary was organised by individuals it described as political hirelings seeking attention and relevance.
Accord alleged that these actors were sponsored by opposition figures in Osun State who have struggled to come to terms with the emergence of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the party’s legitimate governorship flag bearer.
The Accord Party further stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had promptly disowned the exercise, declaring it invalid.
The party said INEC made it clear that it neither received notification of such a primary nor deployed officials to monitor any governorship election under Accord in Osun State.
Quoting the electoral body, Accord said INEC reportedly described the exercise as a “kangaroo process” designed to stir confusion and unnecessary political tension.
The party noted that such actions were capable of undermining public confidence in democratic institutions if left unchecked.
Emphasising the current political climate in Osun State, the party pointed out that the state has remained largely peaceful and stable since Governor Adeleke assumed office.
It warned that attempts to introduce political chaos through illegitimate processes could threaten that stability and derail ongoing development efforts.
The Accord Party stressed that it would not be drawn into responding to what it termed political distractions, adding that its focus remains on governance, service delivery and improving the lives of citizens.
It described the alleged primary as an insult to democratic values and a waste of public attention.
In reaffirming its confidence in Governor Adeleke, the party portrayed him as a compassionate and people-oriented leader whose administration is centred on inclusive governance.
Accord said its candidate remains committed to delivering tangible dividends of democracy across Osun State, including improved infrastructure, social welfare programmes and economic empowerment initiatives.
The party also accused the main opposition in the state of resorting to desperate tactics to slow down the pace of governance.
According to the statement, the opposition’s alleged involvement in the parallel primary reflects political frustration rather than genuine democratic engagement.
Beyond Osun State, the Accord Party revealed that it is currently experiencing a surge in membership across the country.
The party said Nigerians from different backgrounds are increasingly drawn to its ideology and reform-driven agenda, particularly amid growing calls for accountable leadership and people-focused governance.
The leadership said it remains open to welcoming new members and supporters who believe in national unity, transparency and sustainable development.
It added that the growing interest in the party reflects a broader desire among citizens for alternatives that prioritise service over political rivalry.
Accord also used the opportunity to call on security agencies and relevant institutions to remain vigilant against actions capable of threatening peace and democratic order.
The party stressed that democracy thrives best in an atmosphere of lawfulness, mutual respect and adherence to established procedures.
In its concluding remarks, the Accord Party urged Nigerians to remain united and focused on nation-building rather than divisive political theatrics.
It called for collective efforts toward ensuring stability, security and prosperity, noting that political ambition should never supersede the common good.
