PDP supporters, who are thought to be loyalists of Rivers State Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Chief Nyesom Wike, battled yesterday at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt.

The incident led to gunfire on Friday near the PDP Secretariat on the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway.

Some suggested political thugs were responsible for the shooting, while others said the bullets were produced by security personnel who had been guarding the building since the court fired Aaron Chukwuemeka’s party executives.

As another group claiming to be followers of the former governor assaulted the location Friday morning, it was believed that supporters of the state’s governor, who had been driven out of office by security personnel following the court victory, were attempting to retake the position.

According to reports, there was a significant altercation at the Secretariat that led to multiple gunshots.
