Timileyin Ajayi, the alleged killer of 24-year-old NYSC member Salome Adaidu, has pleaded not guilty to culpable homicide, which is punishable by death.

Ajayi was arraigned on Monday before Justice Simon Aboki at the High Court of Justice in Lafia, Nasarawa State, and formally charged under Section 221 of the Northern Nigerian Penal Code.

The 32-year-old was detained for allegedly murdering Adaidu, who worked at Nicon Insurance in Abuja.

She was assassinated during a visit to Ajayi’s home in the Papalana neighborhood of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

On January 12, 2025, ireport247new reported that Timileyin Ajayi was apprehended by police, while trying to disposed Salome’s severed head.

In an interview, Ajayi admitted to killing Salome but claimed it was not premeditated.

“I killed her because we weren’t always together. It wasn’t something I intended. “It happened on that day,” he stated.

He further stated that his actions were motivated by suspicions of infidelity.

“She cheated. She keeps most things from me. I found out on her phone. I watched her conversations with other guys, and that influenced my decision,” he explained.

Despite his admission, Ajayi showed no remorse.

“I have no regrets because life is mutual. “If you have to do something to someone, you must reciprocate,” he said.

The case has been deferred while the court evaluates the evidence.
