Tompolo denial ultimatum: Security chief refutes false Nnamdi Kanu claim

Tompolo denial ultimatum clarified as the Niger Delta leader dismisses viral falsehood linking him to a 21-day ultimatum over Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

The controversy surrounding the Tompolo denial ultimatum has stirred wide public attention, following the circulation of a viral publication claiming that High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Tompolo, who serves as Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, swiftly reacted to the allegation, describing it as false, mischievous, and an attempt to tarnish his image.

He maintained that he had no hand in the issue concerning Nnamdi Kanu or any ultimatum directed at the Federal Government.

Tompolo denial ultimatum: Security chief refutes false Nnamdi Kanu claim

In a statement released by his Media Consultant, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, the Niger Delta leader explained that the so-called ultimatum was the work of detractors seeking to discredit him because of his unwavering commitment to the fight against oil theft and illegal refining in the region.

“The attention of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has been drawn to a trending publication on social media claiming he issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government over Nnamdi Kanu’s release,” the statement said.

“We wish to state categorically that this report is completely false. The Tompolo denial ultimatum is a fabrication by mischief makers determined to undermine his contributions to the nation’s security and economic stability.”

The statement further described the allegation as malicious propaganda, orchestrated by those uncomfortable with the positive impact of Tompolo’s partnership with the Federal Government in combating oil theft in the Niger Delta.

Tompolo reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining peace, stability, and environmental integrity in the Niger Delta.

He stressed that his focus remained on strengthening the operations of Tantita Security Services to ensure the protection of critical national oil infrastructure and elimination of crude oil theft.

He noted that since Tantita Security Services began operations, the region had recorded notable progress in oil production, increased government revenue, and a significant reduction in illegal refining activities.

“Those behind this falsehood will continue to fail,” the statement emphasized. “Tompolo will not be distracted by fabricated stories. He remains committed to restoring sanity to the Niger Delta and supporting the nation’s economic growth.”

Addressing the broader political implications of the Tompolo denial ultimatum, the statement reaffirmed his firm loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Tompolo, who publicly endorsed President Tinubu’s leadership earlier this year, reiterated that his commitment to national unity and stability remains unshaken.

“We wish to reassure the Federal Government, under the capable leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that Tompolo stands with the administration,” the statement continued.

“The Tompolo denial ultimatum is false and should be ignored. Tompolo fully supports the government’s developmental agenda and reaffirms his endorsement for the President’s second-term bid.”

Analysts believe the viral publication represents a broader attempt to smear the reputation of individuals leading the charge against oil theft and corruption in the Niger Delta.

Tompolo’s success in reducing illegal oil activities has drawn praise from communities and authorities—but also resentment from those whose illicit operations have been disrupted.

Security experts note that Tantita Security Services, under Tompolo’s leadership, has played a crucial role in curbing oil bunkering, increasing crude oil output, and restoring investor confidence in Nigeria’s petroleum sector.

However, these achievements have also made Tompolo a target of smear campaigns by groups determined to frustrate anti-oil theft efforts.

Following the Tompolo denial ultimatum, several Niger Delta stakeholders, traditional rulers, and civil society groups expressed solidarity with the Tantita boss.

They described the fake publication as a desperate ploy to destabilize the peace enjoyed in the region and urged Nigerians to verify information before sharing it online.

Community leaders commended Tompolo for maintaining composure and focusing on his duties despite attempts to distract him.

They called on the Federal Government to investigate the origin of the false report and take measures to curb the spread of misinformation capable of creating unnecessary tension.

Social media analysts also urged caution, noting that fake news can quickly escalate into national controversy, particularly when it involves sensitive security and political issues.

Tompolo reaffirmed that he would continue working closely with the Nigerian Navy, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and other agencies to sustain the progress achieved in curbing illegal oil activities.

He stated that his mission is not politically motivated but guided by a desire to protect national assets and improve the livelihoods of people in the Niger Delta.

“The Tompolo denial ultimatum should not distract from the real work at hand,” the statement said. “Our focus remains on achieving total eradication of illegal oil activities and ensuring peace and prosperity for our people.”

He also extended appreciation to loyal staff, security operatives, and community stakeholders for their continuous cooperation, emphasizing that the joint efforts of government and private security partners were yielding positive results for Nigeria’s economy.

The Tompolo denial ultimatum episode underscores the growing dangers of misinformation in Nigeria’s public space. It highlights the need for citizens and journalists to verify claims, particularly those circulating on social media, before amplifying them.

Tompolo’s clear and consistent response demonstrates his determination to maintain transparency and focus on service. His leadership in securing vital oil infrastructure continues to earn him respect from various quarters and has strengthened confidence in the Niger Delta’s role in national development.

As the controversy fades, the message remains clear: fake news cannot overshadow proven dedication, and truth always prevails over fabrication.
