Team Arapaja challenges Bimbo Adekanmbi over allegations against Senator Sharafadeen Alli, questioning his political loyalty and record ahead of Oyo 2027.
Team Arapaja, a political group loyal to former Oyo State Deputy Governor and former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, has criticised the APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, over his recent allegations against Senator Sharafadeen Alli ahead of the 2027 election.
In a statement signed by Comrade Ibrahim Sheriff, the group described Adekanmbi’s comments as politically motivated and urged Oyo residents to examine his record in public office before accepting his claims.
Adekanmbi had reportedly alleged during an appearance on Fresh FM that Alli misappropriated funds while serving as chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, claiming to possess evidence against the APC governorship candidate.
However, Team Arapaja dismissed the allegations as political mudslinging, questioning why Adekanmbi had not presented the purported evidence during Alli’s previous electoral contests, including the 1996 senatorial election under the UNPP and the 2023 Oyo South Senatorial District election.
The group also revisited Adekanmbi’s tenure as acting chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue and commissioner for finance under the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, alleging that workers experienced humiliation and mistreatment during his leadership.
It further raised questions about allegations involving ₦30 billion in local government funds during his time as finance commissioner, insisting that Adekanmbi should address the issues publicly.
Team Arapaja also questioned Adekanmbi’s relationship with Governor Seyi Makinde after Ajimobi’s death, alleging that his political realignment was intended to protect himself from possible corruption investigations involving the former administration.
The group additionally challenged him to respond to allegations that he disclosed information about the Ajimobi family’s properties to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“The Ajimobi family played a pivotal role in transitioning Adekanmbi from the private sector into public service.
“If he could betray his benefactor, can the people of Oyo State truly trust him with their future?” the group asked.
Team Arapaja urged voters to reject unsubstantiated political accusations and assess candidates based on their integrity, competence and records of service.
It challenged Adekanmbi to respond to the allegations with verifiable facts rather than political rhetoric.
