Oyo APC e-registration records technical challenges across councils as party leadership reassures members, seeks deadline extension, and stresses accurate membership data.
The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to its members and supporters to remain patient and cooperative amid challenges confronting the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise across the state.

The party leadership assured that all technical issues affecting the process are being actively addressed and will be resolved within the shortest possible time.
The Oyo APC e-registration exercise, which was introduced to modernise the party’s membership system, has witnessed a massive turnout from both long-standing party members and new entrants.
However, reports from the state’s 33 local government areas indicate that a large number of party faithful are yet to complete their registration due to technical difficulties encountered during data capture.
Party officials at ward and local government levels reported intermittent system failures, slow connectivity, and challenges associated with the mandatory submission of National Identification Number (NIN) details.
These issues, according to stakeholders, have prevented many willing members from successfully uploading their personal information into the APC electronic registration portal.
The situation has generated concern within the party, particularly among grassroots leaders who fear that genuine members could be excluded from future party activities if the challenges persist.
As a result, several party stakeholders across the state have begun calling for an extension of the registration deadline to allow wider participation and avoid disenfranchisement.
Responding to these concerns, the Oyo APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olawale Sadare, released a statement acknowledging the difficulties and reassuring members that the party is fully aware of the situation.
He emphasised that the leadership of the party is working closely with relevant authorities to resolve the technical glitches affecting the APC electronic registration process.
Sadare explained that the decision to make the possession of a valid NIN and Permanent Voter Card (PVC) compulsory for registration was deliberate and strategic.
According to him, the policy is aimed at ensuring the party maintains a credible, accurate, and verifiable membership database that aligns with global best practices in political organisation.
He noted that the APC’s long-term planning, internal democracy, and compliance with electoral guidelines depend heavily on having reliable personal data for all registered members.
“The essence of the new registration system is to strengthen the party structurally and administratively,” he stated, adding that accurate data would help the party prepare effectively for congresses, primaries, and general elections.
The publicity secretary admitted that the party is not unaware of the challenges faced by members who lack NIN or are unable to complete the data capture process due to technical constraints.
He assured that solutions are already being implemented to address these gaps before the official deadline for the registration exercise.
Sadare further disclosed that the Oyo APC leadership has received formal requests from different parts of the state seeking an extension of the registration period.
He confirmed that these requests have been communicated to the APC National Secretariat and expressed optimism that a favourable decision would be reached in the interest of inclusiveness and fairness.
While awaiting feedback from the national leadership, the party urged members to intensify their efforts and take advantage of every available opportunity to complete their registration.
Sadare stressed that the Oyo APC e-registration exercise is a serious and compulsory process that will determine participation in future party activities.
He issued a firm warning that party leaders and members who fail to register within the stipulated period risk losing relevance in the party’s decision-making process.
According to him, unregistered members may not be recognised during upcoming congresses and party primaries as the APC prepares for future electoral contests.
The Oyo APC leadership also called on ward and local government officials to be proactive in assisting members experiencing difficulties.
Members were encouraged to promptly report any challenges encountered in their localities to the APC State Secretariat at Oke-Ado, Ibadan, for swift intervention and resolution.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to transparency and inclusiveness, Sadare assured members that the leadership remains fully in control of the situation.
He noted that the temporary setbacks would not derail the party’s objective of building a strong, united, and data-driven political structure in Oyo State.
He concluded by appealing to party faithful to avoid misinformation and panic, urging them instead to rely on official communication channels for updates on the registration exercise.
According to him, the successful completion of the APC membership registration process is critical to strengthening the party ahead of future political engagements.
