The Gwaram Local Government Council in Jigawa State has made a thoughtful gesture to bring joy to 600 male orphans in the area. The council purchased 100 bundles of fabric for distribution to the orphans, ensuring they have a memorable Sallah celebration.
According to Prof. Abdurrahman Lawan, the chairman of the council, 100 orphans were selected from each district to receive the fabric. The council also allocated N600,000 to cover the costs of sewing the clothes. This initiative demonstrates the council’s commitment to supporting the welfare of orphans, providing them with a sense of belonging and happiness during the Sallah celebration.
Lawan emphasized that this initiative is part of the council’s efforts to ensure that the orphans have a joyous Sallah celebration like others. In addition to providing clothes for the male orphans, the council has also distributed garments to orphan girls across the area.
The council’s dedication to supporting the most vulnerable members of their community extends beyond clothing. They have also provided 36 bags of pasta, four sacks of millet, and four sacks of maize to the 76 village heads in the domain. As Lawan explained, “This move demonstrates the council’s dedication to supporting the most vulnerable members of their community.”
The District Head of Fagam (Katikan Dutse), Auwal Adamu, praised the leadership of the council for its commitment to caring for orphans. “This donation aims to alleviate food insecurity and promote economic empowerment within the community,” Katikan Dutse explained.
This heartwarming gesture by the Gwaram Local Government Council is a testament to their commitment to the well-being of their community, particularly the most vulnerable members.
