Democrats release Epstein documents naming Musk, Thiel, Bannon, Prince Andrew

The political storm surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein scandal deepened on Friday after Democrats on the House oversight committee released a new batch of documents linking the disgraced financier to some of the most influential figures in business, politics, and royalty.

The six-page release, though heavily redacted, revealed calendar entries, travel manifests, and financial notes suggesting Epstein had contact with Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Steve Bannon, and Prince Andrew in the years before his arrest on sex-trafficking charges.

The revelations instantly reignited debate about how much of Epstein’s network has been hidden and whether justice is still being denied to his victims.

The documents came directly from the U.S. Department of Justice and were made public by Democrats as part of their ongoing push to force transparency into the Epstein case.

A breakfast with Bannon in February 2019, a lunch with Thiel in late 2017, and a potential Musk visit to Epstein’s island in December 2014 were among the items cited.

A plane manifest from 2000 included Prince Andrew, long accused of maintaining a close relationship with Epstein, while another record showed a payment from Epstein to someone listed as “Andrew” for massage and yoga.

While all the entries remain unverified in terms of whether meetings actually occurred, the fact that they appear in official records has added fuel to a controversy that refuses to fade six years after Epstein’s death in federal custody.

Democrats say the release shows Epstein’s influence stretched far deeper into the highest tiers of society than has yet been acknowledged.

“It should be clear to every American that Jeffrey Epstein was friends with some of the most powerful and wealthiest men in the world,” said Sara Guerrero, a spokesperson for the committee. “Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims.”

But Republicans accused Democrats of selective disclosure, saying the new batch deliberately avoided releasing information that might implicate Democratic officials.

The GOP-led oversight majority issued a statement claiming, “this is old news. It’s sad how Democrats are conveniently withholding documents that contain the names of Democratic officials.

Once again they are putting politics over victims. That’s all Robert Garcia and Oversight Dems know how to do. We are releasing them all soon.”

Robert Garcia, the ranking Democrat on the committee, pushed back, insisting that his party’s aim was universal accountability. “We don’t care how wealthy or powerful you are – or if you are a Democrat or Republican. If you are in the Epstein documents and files we are going to expose it, and bring justice for the survivors. Release ALL THE FILES NOW!”

The partisan fight reflects how Epstein’s name has become a political weapon in Washington. Elon Musk has repeatedly drawn attention to the matter, at times accusing Donald Trump himself of being listed in Epstein’s papers.

“How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won’t release the Epstein files?” Musk posted on X earlier this year. Democrats like Eric Swalwell seized on that theme again after Friday’s release, writing: “Trump OUTS @elonmusk as being in Epstein Files. Revenge for Elon outing Trump? Elon, what do you know about Trump’s involvement?”

The battle over disclosure is not only political but legislative. Democrats have aligned with a small group of Republicans to force a petition requiring the full release of Epstein’s files.

They need 218 signatures for a floor vote, and momentum grew this week after Adelita Grijalva, a Democrat from Arizona, won a special election and joined the effort.

Should the bill pass the House, it would still face resistance in the Republican-led Senate, where leaders have shown little appetite for reopening the Epstein scandal. And even then, Donald Trump would have to sign the bill, something he has dismissed as a “Democrat hoax.”

The documents are the third batch made public this year and show Democrats steadily increasing pressure on the Justice Department.

Victims’ advocates argue that only full transparency can resolve the enduring questions about who enabled Epstein and how he evaded justice for so long.

Epstein died in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial, an event ruled a suicide but still mired in conspiracy theories. To many Americans, unanswered questions remain about the powerful men and women who were part of his orbit.

The new records place Musk, Thiel, and Bannon squarely in that conversation. Thiel has never publicly addressed the calendar entry suggesting a 2017 lunch with Epstein, while Musk has previously denied any wrongdoing or close connection, saying he only met Epstein socially.

Bannon, a close ally of Trump, has also not commented on the documents, which describe a planned breakfast meeting but provide no detail on whether it happened. Prince Andrew, for his part, has long denied allegations of misconduct but was stripped of royal duties and titles after a civil case linked to Epstein ended in settlement.

For Democrats, the strategy is clear: expose the scope of Epstein’s world regardless of political fallout. For Republicans, the counter-strategy is equally clear: accuse Democrats of hypocrisy and demand that files implicating their own allies be revealed as well. Both sides know the Epstein name carries enormous weight with the public, not only for the scandal itself but because of its symbolic association with secrecy, privilege, and impunity.

The survivors of Epstein’s abuse remain at the heart of the case. Advocacy groups stress that the focus must not be on the political circus but on the women and girls whose lives were shattered by Epstein’s crimes.

They argue that every redacted name or withheld record deepens the injustice and delays accountability. For them, the demand is simple: full release of the files, full exposure of everyone involved, and genuine justice after years of silence.

The next stage of the battle may play out in court, as victims’ lawyers are considering legal action to compel further disclosure. At the same time, the political showdown in Congress is intensifying, with both parties treating the Epstein files as ammunition for broader fights over credibility, corruption, and transparency in government.

Whether Trump ultimately allows a release, or whether Democrats can force it through legislation, remains uncertain. But the pressure is growing, and each new document only raises more questions.

The Epstein scandal, even six years after his death, is far from over. Every new file turns a spotlight on the circles of wealth and power that enabled him.

For Musk, Thiel, Bannon, and Prince Andrew, the latest release ensures their names will remain tied to one of the darkest sagas in recent American history.

For the American public, the demand for truth continues, echoing across social media, the halls of Congress, and the calls of survivors who will not stop until every name is known.
