The South-South Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has re-elected Dan Orbih as its chairman, with a total of 174 votes.

The election took place during the party’s zonal congress in Calabar, Cross River State, on Saturday.

Other officials elected alongside Orbih include:

– Alabah Turnah as Secretary

– Evelyn Weke as Treasurer

– Ijeoma Obani as Financial Secretary

– Timothy Okwoche as Organising Secretary

– Iyrneri Briggs as Legal Adviser

– Prince Etim Isong as Publicity Secretary

– Loveday Abaribote as Auditor

– Phenomena Esubok as Woman Leader

– Patrick Asuquo as Youth Leader

In his post-election speech, Orbih acknowledged that the party’s problems are self-inflicted and pledged to end impunity and imposition.

He emphasized the need to rebuild and rebrand the party, stating that “we will continue to do what is right for the interest and development of our party in the South-South and Nigeria”.

However, the PDP National Working Committee has disputed the legitimacy of the zonal congress, claiming that it was not an official party event.

National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba stated that the party has not conducted its South-South Zonal Congress and is not involved in the gathering in Calabar.
