Vice President Kashim Shettima reiterated the federal government’s specific support for local farmers.
He stated the government would aggressively safeguard domestic producers to lower production costs, including single-digit loans.
The Vice President represented by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, on Thursday at the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit (PFSCU) steering committee meeting at the Presidential Villa
He said that local farmers’ economic realities require strategic government intervention to reduce production costs and support them.
The Vice President said, “We need to support our local farmers. Give them single-digit loans.
“The Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit has metamorphosed into an incubator beyond being an advisory body.
“In a nutshell, the government will intervene robustly. We will continue to encourage our farmers.”
