Tinubu to Open Lagos-Badagry Expressway in May-Umahi

President Bola Tinubu will inaugurate Lagos-Bandagry Expressway to mark the end of his second year in office.

April is the projected date for the completion of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, which is now undergoing renovation and expansion into six lanes.

During an inspection trip of the roadway that took place on Thursday, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, reported this information.

Umahi confirmed that the 46-kilometer ECOWAS route connecting Seme Border and Abidjan will be inaugurated during President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office.

From the whole amount of N71 billion that was agreed upon in the contract.

The minister stated that the contractor who was in charge of the project had been paid N50 billion.

“The contractor has been paid about N50 billion; it means that what is left to complete the job is N21 billion.

“We have scheduled a meeting with the contractor to discuss how to finalise the remaining four to five kilometres before April 20.

Concrete pavement will be used for the second portion that ends at Seme Border, according to Umahi.

He said that the border states would be asked to finish their portions of the ECOWAS highway project, which would end at Abidjan.

The nation’s minister of works praised the president for completing approximately 270 national projects that were passed down to him.

The projects, he claimed, were scheduled for May inauguration.

The initial contract for the Lagos-Badagry Expressway was signed in October 2018.
