A 23-year-old man named Solomon Fabiyi was taken into custody by the Ekiti State police for reportedly trying to utilize his young nephew Jomiloju for money rituals.

On February 14, 2025, a group of police officers in Ekiti state captured Solomon.

The suspect, who was born in Ekiti state but is from Kwara state, claimed during questioning that the native doctor had advised him to provide a person to do money rituals for him.

He claims that the indigenous physicians informed him that the sacrifice would be carried out in a way that would prevent the victim from dying but instead cause them to suffer from the illness for the remainder of their life.

Solomon claimed that he made the decision to present his nephew and that he planned to make sure that, as he battled the illness, his nephew received the education and ‘good life’ that he was entitled to, all the while receiving the money from the sacrifice.

He claimed to reside with Jomiloju’s mother and assist with Jomiloju’s care.

Sunday Abutu, the state police command spokesperson, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the suspect admitted to the act and was charged in court.
