Kwara Student’s Death: Islamic Cleric, Suspects Sent to Prison

A Kwara State Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of Abdulrahman Bello, a self-acclaimed Islamic cleric, and four others at the federal correctional facility in Oke-Kura, Ilorin.

The suspects were arraigned on a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, possession of human parts, and armed robbery.

The victim, Adefalu Hasfat Yetunde, a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, was allegedly killed by the suspects for ritual purposes. The Police First Information Report revealed that the suspects confessed to the crime, and some parts of the victim’s body were recovered from the cleric’s house and where he dumped them .

The trial magistrate, Mr. Sanusi B. Mohammed, adjourned the case until March 6, 2025. The suspects were not represented by counsel during their arraignment.
