The newly appointed Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has reaffirmed the police’s commitment to securing the Lagos State House of Assembly. Jimoh made this assurance on Tuesday while addressing concerns about the security situation at the Assembly complex.
He dismissed claims that the police had relinquished their role as the lead agency for internal security to another agency. “Our men have always provided security outside the Assembly complex, as permitted by law,” Jimoh clarified.
Jimoh also emphasized that the police have no role inside the legislative chamber. “We do not have any business in the Hallowed Chamber, and that is why our men were not there,” he stated.
The Police Service Commission appointed Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command on Monday. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Force Public Relations Officer and held various other positions within the police force.
With Jimoh at the helm, Lagosians can expect continued security and stability at the State Assembly.
