The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended warm felicitations to the Government and people of The Gambia on the occasion of their independence anniversary.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, commended The Gambia for its remarkable progress and resilience since gaining independence.

The statement emphasized the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and The Gambia, built on mutual respect, shared values, and a common vision for a united and prosperous Africa. Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with The Gambia, particularly in addressing regional and global challenges.

Nigeria’s continued support was highlighted, with hopes for deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The statement read, “The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, extends his warmest congratulations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Hon. Dr. Mamadou Tangara, on the joyous occasion of their Independence Anniversary.”

“As you commemorate this significant milestone in your nation’s history, we celebrate with you the remarkable progress and resilience that The Gambia has demonstrated over the years. The statement concluded, “We remain committed to strengthening these ties while collaborating closely on regional and global issues for the benefit of our people. Therefore, on this special day, we reaffirm our solidarity with the Government and people of The Gambia and look forward to deepening our bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest”.
