An exclusive interview with Forbes was conducted on Monday, and during the chat, Dangote discussed the dangers that are associated with launching a huge enterprise.

Aliko Dangote, a billionaire himself, has acknowledged the difficulties he encountered in bringing the $23 billion Dangote Refinery project to reality. He has referred to the project as the biggest risk of his life.

Dangote said, “It was the biggest risk of my life. If this didn’t work, I was dead.”

It was stated by Dangote that the route to completion was filled with difficulties, despite the fact that the refinery had a record capacity of 650,000 barrels per day and was classified as the largest refinery in Africa.

He spoke about the barriers he faced in financing the project, the regulatory challenges, and obtaining suppliers.

Dangote said he is dedicated to providing a plan for development across Africa.

“We have to build our own nation by ourselves. We have to build our own continent by ourselves, not rely on foreign investment.”
