A Federal High Court in Lagos has ruled that the arrest warrant issued for Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, remains valid. This development comes after Onyedikachukwu’s lawyer, Monday Ubani, attempted to vacate the warrant.

Chinwo had accused Onyedikachukwu of diverting $345,000 in royalties owed to her. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) subsequently filed a three-count charge against Onyedikachukwu, alleging money laundering and fraudulent diversion of funds.

At the last court sitting on January 24, Ubani appeared for Onyedikachukwu and sought to vacate the arrest warrant. However, the EFCC reminded the court that Onyedikachukwu had evaded service of the charge, leading to the issuance of the warrant.

On Monday, Ubani informed the court that Onyedikachukwu had been involved in a terrible accident and would be available for the next adjourned date. However, the judge declined to hear Ubani’s objection until Onyedikachukwu appears in court. The court has adjourned the case to March 6 for Onyedikachukwu’s arraignment.
