Residents of Omi-Adio, Ido Local Government Area, Oyo State, are calling on President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to rehabilitate and equip the Baptist Cottage Hospital, which has fallen into disrepair. The hospital’s deteriorating condition has left residents facing significant healthcare challenges, forcing them to seek expensive medical care at private hospitals or resort to herbal remedies with tragic consequences.
Adebola David, a youth leader in the area, highlighted the community’s struggles, stating, “We’re tired of trekking long distances to access medical care at private hospitals with exorbitant charges.” David emphasized that the lack of a functional hospital has led to untimely deaths among children, young adults, and adults, pleading with the government to intervene.
The Baptist Cottage Hospital holds sentimental value, as it was originally inaugurated during President Tinubu’s tenure as a Senator in Lagos State. David appealed to President Tinubu to help restore the hospital, equipping it with essential drugs, bed spaces, a gynecologist, and necessary hospital equipment. The community is counting on the government’s support to address their healthcare needs and prevent further tragic losses.
