The Oba Yoruba of Funtua LGA in Katsina State, Alhaji Murtala Sani Adeleke, was appointed as the new head of the Association of Yoruba Traditional Leaders and Obas in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

At the ceremony, which took place in Abuja on Saturday, the association celebrated its tenth anniversary, freshly elected executives were sworn in, and the association’s life patron was invested.

Oba Murtala Adeleke promised in his acceptance speech to protect national unity, promote development, and guarantee the well-being of Yoruba indigenous people living in the North.

Oba Adeleke announced the purchase of a well-furnished office in Abuja, which will be the location of quarterly meetings, as part of his plan to advance the association.

He also revealed plans to establish a permanent secretariat, calling it a lofty but doable objective with cooperation and goodwill.

Traditional rulers, dignitaries, and Yoruba people from all throughout Northern Nigeria attended the event.
