Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has released N2.5 billion for the payment of outstanding gratuities to local government pensioners who retired in 2013. This move is part of Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to clearing all owed gratuities to workers in the state.

Speaking in Akure during the flag-off ceremony for the 4th tranche of bulk payments, Aiyedatiwa emphasized that his administration has put in place a system for regular warehousing of funds for gratuity payments to pensioners at both state and local government levels. This system has enabled the administration to make bulk payments of outstanding gratuities to pensioners.

Aiyedatiwa denied that the payment was a political move, instead attributing it to his administration’s sincerity. He pledged to continue prioritizing the welfare of pensioners, stating that his administration would build infrastructure and provide welfare for the wellbeing of the people.

The Head of Service, Bayo Phillip, commended the governor for consistently putting smiles on the faces of pensioners. Phillip noted that the governor’s determination to clear all gratuities in the state is unbiased and not driven by party or ethnic considerations.
