The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 23 people have died in the fatal truck crash under the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange Flyover in Hotoro, Kano, which happened at around 9:50 p.m. on Thursday night.

The accident involved a DAF model trailer carrying both passengers and goods. Forty-eight people were injured in various ways. The FRSC claims that the vehicle overturned beneath the bridge as a result of reckless driving brought on by speeding and losing control.

“The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano Sector Command regrets to report a fatal Road Traffic Crash (RTC) that occurred on 13th February 2025 at approximately 2150 hours along the Kano-Maiduguri Road, under the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange Flyover, Hotoro,” stated CRC Abdullahi Labaran, the Public Relations Officer of the FRSC RS1.2 Kano Sector Command, in an official statement.

Sector Commander CC UM Matazu sent his sympathies to the relatives of the deceased, in order to avert future catastrophes, he strongly advised drivers to refrain from packing trailers full of passengers, cargo, and animals.
