The killing of 14-year-old Faith Moses in Emure Ekiti town has been characterized by Biodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State, as tragic and agonizing.
On February 11, IREPORT247NEW report that 31-year-old Bashir Alaba and 36-year-old Mohammad Jamiu were apprehended for Killing 14 year old Girl named Faith Moses at Emure Ekiti, Emure local government area of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu said the accused had originally intended to rape the girl, but as she struggled with them on a farm, they went so far as to slit her neck and were arrested near the crime scene with two cutlasses suspected of being used for the heinous act.
Speaking to the town about the widespread insecurity in the border community, Oyebanji, through the Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, he stated that those responsible for the heinous crime must be enjoying internal collaboration with the residents, which has to stop.
“Let me sympathize with you on the death of one of your citizens killed just of recent. I was saddened by the report of this killing. But I want you to be vigilant.
“There is no way some people can enter your town and start kidnapping and killings without some people feeding them with information.
“This government is empowering all the security agencies and the local hunters to make Ekiti safe. We are also working with other neighbouring states like Kwara, Ondo, Kogi and Osun States. The forest combing should be sustained and this should be done with the security agencies.
“But, warn your youth who are in the habit of colluding with external bodies to create an atmosphere of insecurity. In fact, in most cases they are the one supplying information to these kidnappers.
“All these must stop. We will work hard to make you secure and you shouldn’t do anything that will frustrate our efforts.”
