IREPORT247NEW reported on February 6, that bandits have raided the Tsiga hamlet in Katsina State’s Bakori local government area and abducted a number of locals, including Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Residents were in a state of terror and mayhem as armed attackers invaded the hamlet early on Thursday morning, at precisely 12:30 am.
According to a source, the abductors carried out their plan in silence in order to abduct Brig.-Gen. Tsiga without running afoul of local vigilantes or security personnel.
As more communities turn to Community Watch Corps (CWC) vigilante organizations for self-defense, the new strategy is being implemented.
A local citizen, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed shock at how simple the kidnapping was.
“Brigadier Tsiga himself opened the door for them, exchanged pleasantries, and was told, We came to take you. He even requested to pick his cap before going with them.”
Even though Brigadier Tsiga was a qualified military commander and had a gun, he did not fight back.
“Had he fired a shot, the local Radda boys and vigilante group, who were on standby, would have responded immediately,” the source continued.
People at a nearby tea business, however, were not aware of the operation because it was so covert.
In order to stop the kidnappers from trying to remove Brigadier Tsiga from the nation, the Nigerian Army mounted a significant attack against them after the kidnapping.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement, but rumors have it that the bandits are requesting N250 million from Ramson’s family in order to free him.
