The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) faction led by Comrade Tajudeen Baruwa has urged the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to evict the current occupiers of the union’s national headquarters, specifically MC Oluomo

This call was made through a press briefing addressed by Baruwa’s legal representatives, Babaleye & Co., in Abuja on Tuesday. According to Barr Tolu Babaleye, the firm’s lead counsel, the crisis began when Baruwa was sworn in as the President of NURTW in 2023, and an opposing faction led by Alh. Najeem Usman Yasin rejected the election results.

Baruwa’s faction took the matter to court, and on March 11, 2024, the National Industrial Court of Nigeria ruled in their favor, dissolving the opposing faction’s caretaker committee. However, the opposing faction appealed the decision, but the Court of Appeal dismissed their appeal on November 8, 2024, affirming Baruwa’s presidency

Despite this, MC Oluomo was inaugurated as the national president of NURTW, in defiance of the court’s ruling. Babaleye described this as “flagrant disobedience” and called on the federal government to intervene, urging them to “call these usurpers and law breakers to order” and prevent further disputes
