As Kemi Badenoch approaches her 100th day as party leader, a YouGov poll indicates that most Conservative voters are unsure of her suitability as prime minister, raising concerns about her leadership chances.

The poll shows that although 48% of 2024 Conservative voters think Badenoch might be prime minister, only 26% think she would be a good prime minister. Only 14% of the general electorate believe she is capable of leading the nation.

Badenoch, who was born in the UK to Nigerian parents, has pushed for tougher immigration laws. Most recently, he suggested that foreigners must live in the UK for at least 15 years in order to be eligible for a British passport.

Opposition voters are sceptical of Badenoch because of her hardline immigration policy.

“Britain is our home, it’s not a hotel,” Badenoch asserted. “It’s time to tell the truth on immigration and propose real plans. I want to reduce immigration and make living here actually mean something. I’m announcing that the Conservative Party is going to do things differently.”

According to the study, only 19% of respondents who favour Reform UK, Labour, and Liberal Democrats think she is trustworthy, while 39% of them think she is untrustworthy.

Furthermore, compared to 24% who think highly of her, 39% said she is unlikeable. According to the survey, 56% of the party’s supporters support her leadership, while only 17% think poorly of her work.

The results of the survey come as the Conservative Party faces increasing difficulties; according to another poll, it is ranked third in terms of voter preference, behind Reform UK and Labour.
