Aston Villa’s 2-1 FA Cup victory over Tottenham, which guaranteed them a berth in the fifth round for the first time in 10 years, thrilled manager Unai Emery.

Even though Spurs received a late consolation goal from Mathys Tel, Villa’s performance at Villa Park demonstrated their quality and control throughout the game. Villa continues to compete on three fronts, Emery thinks the win sets a standard for the rest of the season.

After the game, he commented, “I’m really happy for our supporters because this competition means a lot to them, to Aston Villa.”

“We didn’t make it to the fifth round like we did today when we were here two years ago. We played a really, really excellent match, so I think how we got it was great.

Both individually and collectively, we gave excellent performances. “We are very motivated and excited to see how we can regain our capacity and our performances in the upcoming weeks and months playing in various competitions – FA Cup, Champions League, and Premier League.

The players we added in the last month have started helping us a lot.”

“I am satisfied with how we played and how we received our performance, both individually and collectively, after the outcome, which is what matters most to us.

I have high expectations for how we can improve better for the next matches in Premier League, the next matches in Champions League and the next matches in FA Cup.”
