Student Arrested for Killing his Friend

A student at the Federal Polytechnic in Nasarawa has been taken into custody by the Nasarawa State Police Command on suspicion of fatally hacking another student.

In a statement released in the state capital of Lafia, SP Ramhan Nansel, the Command’s public relations officer (PPRO), confirmed the arrest.

According to him, a landlady named Madam Mercy Bassey had complained about a violent confrontation between her tenant and his buddy, which led to the arrest.

The statement read, “On the 6th of February 2025, at about 0200hrs, a report was lodged at Nasarawa Division by one Mercy Bassey, a female resident at the address behind ECWA Peace College, Shagari Road, Nasarawa, regarding a violent altercation between two individuals. The incident occurred between one of her tenants and his friend at their lodge.

“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately sent a team of detectives who promptly responded to the scene.

“The detectives found one Ibrahim Matthew, a part-time ND2 Computer Science student of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (FPN), lying in a pool of his own blood.

“Ibrahim had suffered fatal injuries. He was immediately rushed to General Hospital Nasarawa, where he was confirmed dead. The body was subsequently deposited in the morgue for postmortem examination”
