Three members of the notorious “Shila boys” criminal gang have been taken into custody by the Adamawa State Police Command for armed robbery in Yola.

In a statement released on Sunday, December 29, 2024, Suleiman Nguroje, the command spokesperson, revealed this.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, Nguroje claims that the two suspects who were caught robbed and assaulted individuals who were on their way to church in Yola’s Jimeta neighborhood.

Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command responded promptly to reports of five (5) Shila boys robbing and assaulting people on their way to church for early morning prayers and other businesses along Bishop Street, Yola North local government, in the early hours of December 29, 2024, according to the statement.

When the suspects arrived on the site, they violently assaulted the police officers with knives and machetes in an effort to thwart their arrest. In an effort to defuse the attack with the least amount of force feasible, two suspects escaped while three others were apprehended.

A tricycle, phones, ATM cards, knives, and machetes are among the recovered things that will be shown.

Currently, the injured suspects are being treated and assisting with the investigation. We’ll provide more information as the investigations continue.
