Fabian Hurzeler, the manager of Brighton, acknowledges that he is expecting a response from Chelsea, their FA Cup rivals, on Saturday night.
Brighton enters the match after losing badly to Nottingham Forest 7-0 the previous week.
“We were honest with each other that our standards were not high enough,” Hurzeler remarked.
“We weren’t holding each other to high enough standards.
We weren’t sufficiently brutal. Perhaps we came to terms with the lack of passion.
We acknowledged that players don’t always offer their best effort during training, so we told one another that we needed to make a commitment right away.
We must now work as a cohesive squad that is hard to defeat.
“We need to have the standards we had in the last two training sessions for the rest of the season.
It helps us become better players and will help us become a better team.
“If someone doesn’t give their all to the club and the intensity, we can’t accept it.”
“If someone doesn’t give their all to the club and the intensity, we can’t accept it.”
“If there is one bad game, analyze it and be honest with each other, but don’t change the entire approach,” he added. R
eturning to the fundamentals, intensity is one of the fundamentals that we may affect on the pitch. This level of intensity was absent from the previous game.
“We were straightforward with one another, but maintaining composure is crucial.
“To avoid letting one game define who you are.
“This game was a loss for a number of reasons. Since we are aware of the causes, it is necessary to highlight and discuss them; nonetheless, the next step is to continue working diligently.
“Now, all we speak consists of simple statements and phrases. On the field, the truth is revealed.
“On the field, we must put forth a lot of effort.
“We must respond to our supporters in our home stadium. The fans can then evaluate us, and the public can evaluate our response.
“Now, everything I say matters, but we must live with it in the end.
“I strive to set an example for everyone in this building by remaining upbeat, remaining composed, and providing the players with an orientation, which is, in my opinion, the most crucial thing to do.
“We’ll work on an orientation where we’ll figure out how to solve the problem.
“I have complete faith and confidence that we will overcome this together.”
