In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu congratulated Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, the president of the African Development Bank, on his 65th birthday.
The statement read, “President Tinubu affirms that the numerous recognitions and awards bestowed on the versatile and cerebral technocrat, following his track record of inspiring growth and development, mainly targeting the poor and vulnerable to reduce poverty.”
Tinubu expressed his joy with the former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, whose leadership of national and multilateral institutions, he said, continues to set new standards of innovation, transformation, and sustainable development.
The President recognized Adesina’s significant leadership at the AfDB, which increased the capital base from $93 billion in 2015 to $318 billion, propelling the organization to new heights.
According to Tinubu, the AfDB President’s economic diplomacy has put Nigeria and Africa as a whole in a more prosperous position.
Additionally, he thinks that Africa’s growth will always benefit from the insight, knowledge, and expertise of the former Vice President of Policy and Partnerships for the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa.
In addition to praying for many years of good health for the AfDB President, the President joined family, friends, and acquaintances in expressing gratitude for the historic age.
