The contactless passport application system is now available in Europe, the UK, and Ireland, according to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
“This initiative set for launch on 7th of February 2025 will enable Nigerians in the Diaspora to apply for and renew their passports online from the comfort of their homes,” stated NIS Comptroller General Kemi Nanna Nandap while paying a courtesy call in Abuja to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
On November 5, 2024, AS Akinlabi, the NIS spokeswoman, emphasised the accomplishments of a comparable rollout in Canada.
Akinlabi emphasised that Nigerians can renew their passports without going to a passport centre for biometric enrolment by using the Contactless Passport Application, which is presently accessible on the Google Play Store (NIS mobile).
The program has received recognition for its ability to simplify the process of managing travel documents for Nigerians living overseas.
A major step towards effective, safe, and convenient travel document management for Nigerians in the diaspora is the launch of the contactless passport application solution in Europe she said.
