Liverpool manager Arne Slot is sure that Tottenham will confront a different Reds team tonight.
Liverpool hosts the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal, behind 1-0 to Tottenham.
Before tonight’s game, Slot stated, “I don’t think I have to prepare them differently than I would for any other game.”
Because it is already the end of the season, and I believe that as long as Liverpool exists, if you play in this shirt, you must win the game.
“That’s for tomorrow, Sunday, the following Wednesday, and the game. Even if we are behind 1-0 in the league or a tournament, we try to win the game.
That’s also what we tried in the away game against Tottenham; I believe we were on the verge of a win until the last few seconds, when we were down to 10 and conceded a goal.
“Nothing changes in this game when compared to others. If you wear this shirt and go out at Anfield, only one thing is expected of you: win the game.”
Regarding the nearly-month gap between the two matches, Slot added: “Not that it matters much, but if you play one week later, you usually face the same team again.
With all of Tottenham’s ailments from the last time we played them, it would have been more advantageous if we had played them one week later, even though we lost against the ones who were fit at the time.
But they did bring in three players (during the transfer window); the goalie was already there, so we now have two different ones.
“I’m wondering if Micky van de Ven is ready to play; he, of course, has a significant impact on that team. It is possible that the level of the team we face tomorrow will be different from the last time we played, but we were already unable to win against the last team. So, we know it will be challenging. If you make it to the semi-finals against Tottenham, you know it will be a difficult match. But I believe we will perform better than the last time.”
