Parents, guardians, and families who lost loved ones in the fire outbreak at Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, on Tuesday night received condolences from President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.

IREPORT247NEW reports a terrible fire that overtook Almajiri school in Kauran Namoda, Zamfara State which claimed the lives of at least 17 pupils.

The incident happened on Tuesday night and fire raged for about three hours before being subdued.

It was discovered that there were panicked scenes as the fire quickly spread across the school grounds, trapping a number of the younger pupils.

Some other pupils were hurt and are now being treated at nearby hospitals.


In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu expressed his condolences, saying, “President Tinubu mourns Zamfara Islamic School pupils, says safety should be uppermost to proprietors.”

“President Tinubu commiserates with the state government and owners of the school and prays for the quick recovery of those receiving medical attention.

“The President enjoins all public and private schools to prioritise children’s safety and security at all times and directs regulatory authorities in the education sector to ensure compliance with safety standards,” he added.
