Following reports that the YBNL music mogul permitted the “Sungba” crooner to end his contract, Olamide and Asake have formally split up.
According to sources, both parties agreed to uphold a royalty split for a minimum of ten years, and Asake was allowed to keep the masters of his songs made under YBNL. The contract was terminated a few months after Asake’s album, Lungu Boy, was released.
After considering the choice, Olamide underlined that YBNL was established to support the development of up-and-coming musicians and expressed pride in Asake’s achievements.
Asake unfollowed Olamide and deleted all YBNL-related posts from his social media accounts earlier this week, sparking speculations. Olamide reportedly offered Asake a new deal prior to the breakup, but the musician decided to go it alone. When Asake left the agreement to take over as his boss two weeks ago, it was the last straw.
Asake joined YBNL in 2022 and immediately became well-known thanks to his many successful songs. He even sold-out London’s O2 Arena twice, solidifying his position in the world music scene. With both sides continuing to appreciate one another, the cordial split signifies the end of a fruitful collaboration.
