In an effort to secure the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election, leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the Ife East Area Office in Osun State announced on Tuesday that they support Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

The APC apex leader in the Ife East Area Office, Mr. AbdulWahab Adetunji, the former chairman of the Ife East Area Office, Mr. Olawale Amusan, the former senior special adviser to the governor on political matters, Mr. Ehile Manaseh, the immediate past special adviser to the governor on innovation, science, and technology, Mr. Kareem Ismaeel, the head of all ten APC Ward Chairmen in Modakeke, Mr. Soji Akinlolu, and 28 other individuals signed the statement from the group.

Part of the statement read, “Oyetola, being the leader of the party, would decide the direction that the party would go in 2026 and should he decide not to contest the governorship elections, Ife East Area Office Modakeke APC is ever ready to support, mobilise and canvass votes for any preferred candidate of the minister.

“Our reasons for this are results of our firm belief in the charismatic leadership and accurate sense of judgment of the minister.

“Alhaji Oyetola remains the best hand to lead and rescue Osun from the hands of the incumbent government.

“Modakeke APC stands firmly behind the former governor. We trust in his capacity to rescue Osun.

“The APC in Modakeke shall stand with Oyetola and party supremacy as regards the 2026 gubernatorial candidate.”

The Ilerioluwa Progressive Support Group (IPSC) expressed support in December 2024 and urged Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, to run for governor again.

IPSC said, “If Oyetola refuses to contest in 2026, it will make many interests within the part to show forth, hence may result in internal wrangling, bickering and animosity in APC. But when Oyetola recontest, he is the leader of the party and no one will raise an eyebrow to it.”
