After a terrible vehicle accident, Jordan Chiedozie, a former Bournemouth star, is in a coma. The 30-year-old, who is presently a member of Bashley FC in the Southern League I, is the son of former Tottenham winger John Okechukwu Chiedozie.

On the M27, Chiedozie and club physio Reighan Taylor were on their way back from a weekend game in Tavistock when their car developed a flat tire. He was hit by another vehicle and sent to the hospital while he was investigating the problem.

Bashley FC confirmed the incident in an official statement on Tuesday. The statement read, “Everyone connected with Bashley Football Club is devastated by the news that our player Jordan Chiedozie is currently in hospital with what is described as ‘life-changing, and potentially life-threatening’ injuries after a serious car crash.

Jordan was travelling back from Saturday’s Southern League match at Tavistock with club physio Reighan Taylor when they pulled over onto the hard shoulder of the M27 near Southampton to investigate a flat tyre.

Both of them were outside the car when another car struck it severely from behind. Due to allegations of “drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving,” the driver of that car was placed under custody. Jordan had several broken bones and other physical wounds when he was brought to Southampton Hospital. He is still in a managed coma at this point.

“Reighan had great trauma but was not physically harmed. She was able to use her talents to give Jordan first aid at the site right away, albeit extremely basic given the situation. Everyone at the club is praying and thinking of Jordan and his family, as well as Reighan, during this trying time for everyone associated with Bashley FC.

Given the gravity of the situation, the team has requested a postponement of Tuesday’s home game against Thatcham Town from the Southern League. The proposal has been politely approved by the Southern League. Since enrolling in Bournemouth’s academy in 2007, Chiedozie has played for more than 15 different teams.

David Lewis, the manager of Bashley, conveyed his profound worry and prayed for Chiedozie. “Everyone at the club is completely stunned by what happened, and our thoughts at the moment are far more with Jordan and his family, and with Reighan than they are with football,” he said, revealing the emotional toll on the team.

It seems sense that Jordan’s teammates are in pieces, and I have no doubt that they wouldn’t want to play so soon following this horrific incident.

I would definitely not want to give a team speak under such conditions. As a result, we have requested that Tuesday’s game be postponed. “We will do everything in our power to support Jordan’s immediate family during this terrible time, and we are in close communication with them.”
