His Royal Highness Friday Ehizojie, the traditional ruler (Onogie) of Udo-Eguare, was abducted by gunmen in Edo State’s Igueben Local Government Area.
The shooters ambushed the king and his commercial motorcycle in a woodland between Ubiaja, the rest house intersection, and the Udo community. The traditional ruler was taken away to an unidentified location after the shooters killed the rider.
In a statement released on Monday, February 3, 2025, Moses Yamu, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police command, confirmed the abduction and stated that the command had been notified of the kidnapping of a 21-year-old man and the Onogie of Udo-Eguare, among others.
“He was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle along a lonely path leading to the Community where they were ambushed by unknown persons, in the process the Okada rider was shot dead before the Onogie was abducted.”
He stated that in order to guarantee the victims’ rescue and the arrest of the offenders, Betty Otimenyin, the state commissioner of police, ordered the command’s tactical units, including the Police Mobile Force, to be sent there right away.
