A bill creating the Federal University of Environmental Technology, Ogoni in River State has been signed by President Bola Tinubu. On Monday, Tinubu signed the measure at the State House in Abuja.
The government’s plan to promote education and development nationwide includes the new university, which aims to address past imbalances and ensure equal opportunities for all regions.
This approval comes shortly after the government approved a federal university in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, and Daniel the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication noted that Tinubu is committed to fostering national unity and ensuring that all ethnic groups have access to high-quality education.
Ogoni residents welcomed the announcement, seeing it as a step toward progress and educational growth in the region.

Daniel made the announcement in a tweet on his verified X handle on Monday, calling the action a demonstration of the administration’s resolve to correct historical wrongs and promote inclusive national development.
Bwala pointed out that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda places a high priority on equity and the creation of institutions that guard against regional neglect in development projects.
