The “Big Elephant” was approved as the Action Peoples Party’s (APP) new logo during yesterday’s national convention in Abuja.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) kept a careful eye on the convention, where party stakeholders embraced the new symbol with enthusiasm as a symbol of resilience, growth, and strength.

Barrister Uche Nnadi, the party’s national chairman, told party members of the decision, saying the elephant represents the party’s goal to expand its influence throughout Nigeria and take on bigger political issues.

“The elephant represents strength, determination, and readiness. We are poised to wrestle power from more states in the 2027 general elections,” Nnadi said.

The chairman cited APP’s historic win in the Rivers State Local Government Elections, where the party won 22 of 23 chairmanship seats and 314 of 319 councillorship posts, as evidence of the party’s recent electoral success.

According to him, the victory is a clear indication that the APP is quickly growing into a powerful political force in Nigeria. “This achievement reflects the trust the people have placed in us and is proof that we are on the right path,” he said.

Additionally, the APP gained support in Jigawa State by winning a seat as a councillor, a minor but significant achievement that shows the party’s increasing popularity across the country.

The APP’s quick ascent, according to Nnadi, is evidence of its message of integrity, hope, and grassroots change, all of which appeal to Nigerians.

The convention revealed intentions for a thorough constitutional reform to fortify internal structures and activate important organs, such as the Board of Trustees, as part of the party’s long-term strategy.

“We are repositioning the APP to ensure our structures are not just operational but responsive to the needs of our members and the Nigerian people,” Nnadi said.

Additionally, the APP launched its new official website, which aims to increase openness, make online membership registration easier, and operate as a central location for party activity and initiative updates.

Nnadi asserts that the platform demonstrates the party’s dedication to diversity and modernization.

“We are the Big Elephant party, and we are ready to take over Nigeria,” Nnadi concluded, urging members to build on the party’s current momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.
