As Republicans are ready to seize control of Congress and the White House, US President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to put an end to the “transgender lunacy” on his first day in office.
At an event in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was speaking to young conservatives, Trump made this promise while outlining his plans to impose severe policies and pull back LGBTQ rights.
“I will sign executive orders to end child sexual mutilation, remove transgender people from our elementary, middle, and high schools, and remove them from the military,” he declared.

“It will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female,” he added, promising to “keep men out of women’s sports.”
The discussion of transgender rights has become a highly contentious issue in US politics, with Republican and Democratic states passing rules that are completely at odds with one another.
These debates cover topics such as gender-affirming medical practices and the ban on certain books in libraries and schools. Last week, Congress passed a defense budget that forbids funding for specific gender-affirming care for transgender children of military service members.
