To commemorate Christmas, Boxing Day, and the New Year, the Federal Government has designated Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays.

In a statement signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced the news on Sunday.

The Minister said in the statement that Nigerians should use the holiday season to think on the principles of love, peace, and unity that are at the heart of the festivities.

The statement said, “The Christmas season is a good time for both spiritual reflection and national renewal.”
“Regardless of our differences, let us show kindness and goodwill to one another as we commemorate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo continued.

He underlined how crucial the holidays are as a time to build peace in communities, improve family ties, and promote unity.
Nigerians were urged by the Federal Government to embrace the spirit of the season by considering its importance and making constructive contributions to the creation of a successful and unified country.
