Following an explosion that shook the Sabo neighbourhood of Owode in the Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, four people were officially declared dead and numerous more were injured.

According to information obtained, the event happened on Monday night when a scavenger—also referred to as “bolar bolar”—unintentionally set off the explosion while disassembling a metal object.

It is thought that the metal object the scavenger was handling was the source of the explosion that shook the neighborhood.

Four people were confirmed dead at the spot due to the blast’s rapid casualties.

According to the source, a number of other people also suffered injuries of various intensities and were taken right away to the General Hospital in Ilaro for immediate medical care.
