According to reports, a stampede in Anambra State has killed at least 20 people from the Okija village.
The stampede happened on Saturday while there was a rice distribution event.
The incidence has been verified by Charles Aburime, the Governor of Anambra’s Chief Press Secretary. According to Aburime, the State government is keeping an eye on the situation and will make a statement shortly.
The event occurs just days after a stampede at a carnival in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, claimed the lives of over 35 people, the most of whom were children.
