Based on allegations of bribery, theft, and diversion of public monies, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) is continuing prosecuting the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The case against the former Kano governor will move forward, according to Commission Chairman Muhuyi Rimingado, who made a guest appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief show on Monday. In response to a question about whether the prosecution will proceed in spite of the former governor’s recent detention, Rimingado said, “Yes, we are prosecuting him in person.” “We actually began this investigation in 2021,” he continued.

In addition to being forced to leave, I endured a number of hardships, such as being arrested, detained, assaulted, and humiliated. When I returned, I resumed where I had left off. I’m not witch-hunting anyone, then.

The Kano State Government has filed an eight-count indictment alleging bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds worth billions of naira. The former governor is one of several defendants, along with his wife Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.

Meanwhile, last week, President Bola Tinubu named the former governor the board chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). The hearing of preliminary objections in the case has been postponed until February 13, 2025.
