Jamilu Saidu, a resident of Kumbashi District, Mariga Local Government Area, has been taken into custody by the Niger State police command on suspicion of killing 30-year-old Iliyasu Aminu following a fight at a wedding ceremony.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the event to reporters, saying that it happened during the wedding when a battle broke out between two villages in Kumbashi District: Yabawa and Ungwar Sarkin-Daji. Abiodun claims that when Jamilu allegedly used a machete to strike Iliyasu Aminu in the head, causing his death, the situation changed.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect confessed to the crime and was taken into custody right away. The police spokesperson also disclosed that Jamilu was one of ten suspects detained in recent days for a variety of offenses throughout the state.
