The abducted Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Nelson Adepoyigi, has reportedly been killed by his captors despite receiving a ₦5 million ransom.
IREPORT247NEWS reported that the kidnappers abducted Adepoyigi at his residence in Ifon town, Ose Local Government Area in the evening on Monday, May 12, 2025.
According to eyewitness reports, Adepoyigi was in the process of parking his vehicle around 10 p.m. when the assailants stormed his compound. The gunmen, reportedly armed with sticks and other dangerous weapons, attacked the politician and forcefully dragged him away from the premises. His wife, who was inside the house at the time, rushed outside upon hearing her husband’s distress cries, only to discover that he had already been taken away by the armed men.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Ose LGA, Kolapo Ojo, decried the worsening state of security in the area.
“This pattern of brazen abductions—even at people’s doorsteps—shows how deeply insecurity has taken root. We urge residents to stay alert, report suspicious activities immediately, and remain united as we confront this menace,” Ojo said.

Ojo also revealed that, just days before the incident, another resident narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt while parking his motorcycle.
Meanwhile, Ondo State Police Commissioner Wilfred Afolabi stated that the police have yet to confirm Adepoyigi’s death. He added that special units have been deployed to Ifon to investigate the incident, following reports circulating on social media.
