Real Madrid have bolstered their squad for the upcoming Club World Cup by signing 20-year-old defender Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth for £50 million, activating his release clause.

The Spanish giants announced the transfer, confirming that the one-time Spain international has signed a five-year contract and will officially join the club on June 1, 2025.

Huijsen, a highly sought-after talent, is set to make his debut for Madrid at the expanded Club World Cup in the United States, with the team’s opening match against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal on June 18. The transfer fee will be paid in three instalments, with Huijsen’s former clubs, Juventus and Malaga, receiving 10% and 5% of the fee, respectively.

The young defender had attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle, with as many as seven offers reportedly on the table.

Both Real Madrid and Bournemouth confirmed the move, marking a significant signing for the La Liga side as they prepare for the global tournament.
