In a shocking and disturbing domestic incident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, a 43-year-old woman, known simply as Gift, has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly severing the tip of her lover’s penis. The incident, which has left the local community in disbelief, occurred on Thursday along Bishop Okoye Street in Mile 3 Diobu, a densely populated area of the city.

According to eyewitness accounts and information gathered from local sources, the altercation between Gift and her lover, a man identified only as Sunday, began following a disagreement rooted in a sexual demand. Sunday had reportedly requested to engage in sexual intercourse with Gift, but she refused. It is believed that her refusal was based on the fact that Sunday had allegedly taken sex-enhancement drugs, which may have raised concerns for her regarding his behavior or health implications.

The situation reportedly escalated when Sunday became aggressive in response to her refusal. A source, who spoke to Punch on the condition of anonymity, claimed that Sunday physically assaulted Gift in a fit of anger. Amid the struggle and in an apparent act of self-defense or retaliation, Gift allegedly grabbed his genitals with her mouth and bit off the tip of his penis.

The commotion drew the attention of neighbors, who were alerted by Sunday’s loud cries of pain. On arriving at the scene, some of the residents, shocked and angered by what had transpired, descended on Gift and began assaulting her in retaliation for the gruesome act. The tense situation quickly escalated into a near-lynching.

Fortunately, officers from the Nkpolu Police Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, arrived in time to prevent further violence. The officers were able to rescue Gift from the angry mob and took her into custody. Meanwhile, Sunday was rushed to an undisclosed medical facility in Port Harcourt for emergency treatment. His current condition has not been officially disclosed, but reports suggest that he is receiving specialized medical care.

Speaking to journalists, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest and noted that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Yes, I can confirm the incident. The female suspect, aged 43 years, has been arrested and an investigation is ongoing,” Iringe-Koko stated.

As of now, no formal charges have been announced, but the case has sparked public discussion around domestic violence, self-defense, and the need for interventions in volatile domestic relationships. Authorities have assured the public that due process will be followed and that both parties’ accounts will be thoroughly examined.
