FRSC Secures ISO 9001:2015 Recertification, Reinforces Commitment to Excellence in Road Safety Management

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has once again achieved a significant milestone in quality assurance and institutional excellence by securing the ISO 9001:2015 recertification. This international certification, which underscores a rigorous commitment to quality management systems, was conferred following a successful audit exercise conducted by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).

This achievement was formally announced in a press statement issued on Wednesday by Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide. According to the statement, the recertification is a testament to the Corps’ dedication to maintaining high standards in road safety enforcement and traffic administration across Nigeria.

The FRSC first obtained ISO certification in 2013 under the ISO 9001:2008 standard. Following the global upgrade of the ISO quality standards, the Corps transitioned to ISO 9001:2015 in 2016. Since then, the organization has consistently met and exceeded the stringent requirements necessary for recertification, successfully undergoing audits in 2019, 2022, and most recently in 2025. This marks the fourth consecutive recertification under the ISO 9001:2015 framework.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed hailed the latest certification as a reaffirmation of the Corps’ unwavering commitment to excellence, transparency, and professionalism in service delivery. He emphasized that the achievement is not merely symbolic but reflects the internal processes, strategic goals, and operational efficiency of the Corps.

“This milestone is a validation of our structured approach to road safety administration and our dedication to continually improving the services we offer to the Nigerian public,” he stated. “It is a demonstration of the hard work, discipline, and sense of duty exhibited by our staff at all levels.”

He further noted that the FRSC remains the first and only law enforcement agency in Africa to be certified and continuously recertified under the ISO 9001:2015 standard—an achievement that distinguishes the organization not only within the country but across the continent.

In his remarks, the Corps Marshal expressed gratitude to the entire FRSC workforce for their diligence and contributions to the success of the recertification process. He also extended appreciation to the Standards Organisation of Nigeria for their thorough and professional audit.

Reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to the Nigerian people, Mohammed assured that the FRSC would continue to improve its operations, uphold international best practices, and work tirelessly towards safer roads for all.

He stressed that the recertification would serve as a renewed impetus for the organization to further strengthen its institutional frameworks and operational capabilities.

The ISO 9001:2015 certification is a globally recognized standard for quality management systems. It provides a framework that helps organizations ensure consistent quality in the delivery of products and services, enhance customer satisfaction, and foster continuous improvement.

With this recertification, the FRSC continues to set a benchmark for excellence in public service and reaffirms its leadership role in road traffic management and safety across Africa.
