Peter Obi always lost his voice anytime issue is occurring in Igboland, but if it occurs in the North or Southwest, Obi will dance naked in public.

Reno Omokri, a political commentator and former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has publicly criticized Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, for his silence over the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The directive, scheduled for May 30, 2025, mandates a complete shutdown across the South-East region.

In its announcement, IPOB declared May 30 a public holiday in honor of Biafra Day and called for a total restriction on movement—by land, air, and sea—from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The group specified that schools, markets, places of worship, and all forms of public gatherings should remain closed.

Additionally, IPOB stated that it had reached out to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to reschedule the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) originally planned for that date, to ensure students in the region are not affected by the lockdown.

Omokri condemned the order, particularly its disruptive impact on the WAEC exams, and expressed concern over what he described as Peter Obi’s habitual silence on critical issues affecting the Igbo community.

He accused Obi of selectively speaking out—remaining quiet when troubling developments occur in the South-East, yet being quick to criticize President Bola Tinubu on national matters.

Omokri said, “This is 72 hours after IPOB declared a total lockdown of the Southeast on May 30 in honour of the defunct rebel Republic of Biafra.

“An act which jeopardises the WAEC examination process in the Southeast scheduled for the same day. And Peter Obi has said absolutely nothing.

“This is the same Peter Obi who spoke on the same day when the fake news spread that JAMB was holding exams at 6:30 AM.

“The same Obi talked immediately about the phoney news that Lagos was destroying Landmark Beach Resort because it is owned by an Igbo man.

“The same fellow who condemned President Tinubu on the same day there were stampede deaths in Ibadan. The same individual who jumped to condemn Sokoto and the North after Deborah Samuels was burnt to death.

“But now that the issue is occurring in Igboland, Peter Obi suddenly lost his voice.

“It is his regular trademark. If it occurs in the Southeast, Peter Obi will chop and clean his mouth. But if it occurs in the North or Southwest, Obi will dance naked in public. “
